Dr Enrico Calandro (C3SA Co-Director). Enrico is a Senior Research Associate at Research ICT Africa and a member of the Advisory Board of the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise. Over the past 10 years, his research has focused on exploring the relationship between digitalisation and development in the African context. Enrico holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration specialising in telecommunications policy, from the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town.
Prof. Wallace Chigona
Professor, Information Systems, UCT's School of IT
Wallace Chigona is a Professor in Information Systems at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He is currently the Director of the Centre for ICT4D at the university of Cape Town and a co-Director of the Cybersecurity Capacity Centre for Southern Africa (C3SA). His research focuses on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) policies and on the use of ICTs for human development. He has researched on how disadvantaged communities in different African countries use and are affected by ICTs. Prof Chigona has served on the editorial boards of Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries (EJISDC) as well as on the African Journal of Information Systems and is currently on the advisory board of EJISDC. Prof Chigona is rated as an Established Researcher by the South African National Research Foundation (NRF). He has collaborated on research projects with international scholars from Tanzania, Malawi, United Kingdom, Switzerland and other South African universities. Prof Chigona is currently the IFIP 9.4 Africa representative and a member of UNESCO/Netexplo Advisory Board. Previously, he served a board member of the Communication Policy Research South.
Dr Laban Bagui
Dr Laban Bagui is a postdoctoral fellow with the C3SA/UCT Department of Information Systems. He is a social entrepreneur, a development and civic technology researcher, and a learning facilitator. Laban has worked for various industries including Higher Education, Internet Service Providers, Television broadcasting, and mobile software engineering. He holds a PhD in Information systems from UCT. Laban research interests include eParticipation, Cybersecurity in Africa, African e-Commerce entrepreneurship, and networked learning.
Dr Shallen Lusinga
Dr Shallen Lusinga is presently a post-doctoral research fellow at the C3SA. She completed her doctoral degree in information systems at the University of Cape Town (UCT). She also holds a Master of Commerce degree in Information Systems (UCT); a B.Sc. (Honours) degree in Geographical Information Systems (UCT) and; a B.Sc. degree in Environmental and Geographical Science (UCT). Her research interests focus on Cyber-security, Cyber-bullying, Cyber-victimisation and mobile app development.
Ms Chimwemwe Queen Mtegha
Chimwemwe Queen Mtegha is a PhD student specialising in Cyber security at University of Cape town. She obtained her Master’s degree at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China specializing in Computer Applied Technology.
Ms Nthabiseng Pule
Nthabiseng Pule is the Project and Outreach Manager for C3SA. She has experience in information and communications technology sector regulation, having worked for the Lesotho Communications Authority, first as an Information Technology (IT) manager, and then as Executive Secretary for the Universal Service Fund. She has also been involved in the development of policy and regulatory frameworks for cybersecurity in Lesotho. Her areas interest include cybersecurity, digital inclusion and digital transformation. She is a member of the Internet Society.
Mr Teofelus Tonateni Tuyeni
Teofelus Tonateni Tuyeni is a PhD student at the University of Cape Town, specialising in Information Systems, with research interest in Cyber Security. He holds a Master of Science in Business Informatics (University of Mannheim, Germany) and a Master of Information Systems (University of Melbourne, Australia). He also has extensive experience in research and auditing in the public sector.
Ms Zainab Ruhwanya
Zainab Ruhwanya is currently studying towards a PhD in Information Systems. She holds a MSc in Computer Science (Cybersecurity) from Kansas State University. Zainab is a lecturer in information systems at the Department of Information Systems, School of IT and an associate researcher at the Cyber Security Capacity Centre for Southern Africa (C3SA) at the University of Cape Town (UCT), Cape Town, South Africa. Her research focus includes cybersecurity, information privacy, information security culture, cybercrime and usable security.
Mrs Tendani Mulanga Chimboza
Tendani Mulanga Chimboza is studying towards a PhD in information systems (IS). She holds a Masters in Communications from the University of the Western Cape. Her research activities revolve around, digital ethics, ICTs for Social Justice, ICT Policy, and Dimension 2 of the CMM [Cybersecurity Culture and Society]. At C3SA, she also manages communications and events.
